Keenan Allen was operating as the clear No. 1 receiver for a Chargers offense that ran the third-most pass plays (715) in the NFL last year and that was dealing with losing it's second-best target earner (Mike Williams) early in the campaign. However, there's no question that Allen's pristine utilization and production profiles in his age 31 season were nothing short of highly impressive. Allen brings his 30.7% target share (2nd), 0.31 targets per route run (3rd), and 2.56 yards per route run (11th) to a WR corps that features two target hogs in their own rights in D.J. Moore and rookie first-rounder Rome Odunze. Despite Allen's season ending prematurely as a result of a heel injury, he still finished as the overall WR8 in total PPR points and the WR3 in PPR points per game (21.5) thanks to unbelievable volume in the Chargers' passing attack; he earned 9 or more targets in every game but one in 2023, and 10 or more in eight of them while setting a single-season career-high in receptions (108) in just 13 games. He now enters a Bears offense that will field three WR1-caliber players in support of a generational rookie quarterback, making Allen's situation and the Bears offense in general an enigma to the fullest extent of the word. The Bears enlisted the help of former Seahawks OC Shane Waldron in the same capacity for 2024, who brings a much faster offense to Chicago after the Bears ranked in the bottom third of the league in situation-neutral pace of play in each of the past three seasons. Allen remains one of the league's top receiving talents and that will keep him relevant in a crowded Bears offense, especially on a week-to-week basis; but while he'll have his boom weeks, he'll also have weeks where he loses out on opportunity - something he never had to deal with in Los Angeles. As long as Caleb Williams is close to as advertised (still a big if in Year 1), fantasy managers can look forward to deploying Allen as a somewhat volatile WR3 with every-week WR1 upside.
