Brown's performance on the front nine in 2023 had him on pace to smash his career highs across the board in his second year in Philly, but things soured quickly post-bye as part of a shocking overall collapse from the Eagles in the second half of the season. His 22.6 PPR points per game through Week 9 ranked second among all WRs in that span, but that number was cut in half through his final eight starts, ranking as the overall WR35 (11 pts/game). Despite things going south in the second half of the season, Brown's numbers overall in 2023 are still extremely impressive: he ranked top-8 in target share (27.4%), air yards share (42.0%), targets per route run (0.29), and yards per route run (2.77). Given a much larger sample size of success than struggle in the Eagles' offense - Brown has finished as the overall PPR WR5 and WR6 the past two years, respectively - it would be unfair to suggest that Brown has suddenly fallen off a cliff following the rocky end to the 2023 season. It's worth noting that Brown will be playing for his third offensive coordinator in as many years, but a change from Brian Johnson to Kellen Moore in 2024 should inspire extreme optimism about Brown's prospects of finishing as a Top-5 fantasy WR. Of course, Devonta Smith will be challenging Brown for targets, and the addition of Saquon Barkley could tip the scales even further in favor of the run game for the Eagles after they ran the 12th-most run plays in 2023. Long story short, in Moore's new offense, expect way more passing and way more plays ran. Music to our fantasy football ears. Because of his history and where this offense is going, I'm bullish on AJ Brown finishing as a Top-5 WR in 2024.
