Player Analysis
August 16, 2024
Zach Rizzuto

Nabers hit a landmine when he was selected by the Giants at 6th overall in April's draft, but in an offense that features as little target competition as you'll find around the league, he's very capable of sustaining himself on volume alone in his rookie season. PFF's highest-graded college wide receiver in 2023, he posted a remarkable 31.9% target share operating alongside fellow first round wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., while also ranking second in yards per route run (3.81) among 106 FBS wide receivers to garner 75 or more targets last year. That talent makes him far and away the Giants' best playmaker, but unfortunately for Nabers, he's a ferrari in a trailer park; his new QB, Daniel Jones, sported the league's 5th-worst PFF passing grade among 39 QBs with 200 or more dropbacks in 2023, while the offense as a whole ranked 30th in points scored and 29th in total yards. To date, Daniel Jones has yet to support a top-36 fantasy wide receiver in his career and will be coming off of an ACL tear to begin the 2024 season. It's also worth noting that in Jones' last full season as starter in 2022, the Giants called run plays at the 8th-highest rate in the league. Of course, the Giants haven't had a wide receiver of Nabers' caliber since the last time they took an LSU wide receiver in the first round - Odell Beckham Jr. helped to revive Eli Manning's career for a handful of productive seasons after being drafted in 2014. That being said, while Nabers will likely enjoy the luxury of playing in an incredibly target-rich environment thanks to low-quality competition, he'll also face the challenge of being productive in what is likely to shape up as a bottom 10 offense with a quarterback that has only eclipsed 15 passing touchdowns once in his career.
