Despite playing just two full games and parts of two more with Anthony Richardson at quarterback, Pittman Jr. was able to put up new career highs in fantasy points per game (15.7), targets (156), receptions (109), and receiving yards (1152). That was thanks to serviceable quarterback play from Gardner Minshew, who did his job in propping up Pittman to the 5th-highest target share (28.1%) and a very respectable 2.19 yards per route run (24th) among WRs to run 100 or more routes in 2023. Prior to being concussed in Week 15 against the Steelers, Pittman was one of the league's most productive PPR receivers - he racked up at least 8 or more receptions in 10 of his 13 games through Week 14. He's been one of the better-kept secrets in fantasy football since entering the league in 2020, a result of disastrous QB play over a three-year span that featured the likes of Philip Rivers, Carson Wentz, and Nick Foles taking snaps through the 2022 season. With a healthy Anthony Richardson and Shane Steichen spearheading the offense, though, Pittman has a chance to break free of his backup QB shackles and push for the first top-12 finish of his career. One thing to note with Steichen: he's called offenses that ranked inside the top-10 in overall passing rate (2019 and 2020 with LAC) and top-3 in overall rushing rate (2021 and 2022 with PHI). He's demonstrated that he'll tailor his offense to the skillset of his backfield, and with Richardson under center and Jonathan Taylor lining up behind him, there's a chance we see something closer to the run-heavy schemes of Steichen's days in Philly than the pass-heavy scheme he deployed with the Chargers. The addition of Adonai Mitchell in the draft adds an explosive playmaker to a WR room that also features a quality second-year slot receiver in Josh Downs, but neither of them figure to drain enough targets from Pittman's share in 2024 to warrant any real concern for a receiver that ranked 9th in targets per route run(0.29) in 2023. However, there is an unexpected range of outcomes with Richardson at QB; it's worth noting that only 59.1% of Pittman's 22 targets from Richardson (27% target share) were caught, and in their two full games together, Pittman had catchable target rates of 89% and 25%. We could be in for a bumpy ride.
