The dreaded sophomore slump hit C.J. Stroud hard in 2024, with the second-year QB throwing for fewer yards and touchdowns than he did his rookie season while more than doubling his interception total. Of course, missing his top three receivers (Nico Collins, Stefon Diggs, and Tank Dell) for various amounts of time contributed to the offense underperforming, but that didn't stop the Texans from firing Bobby Slowik from his OC position just a year removed from Stroud's 2023 OROY award. In his place, former Rams passing game coordinator Nick Caley steps in to help get Stroud back on his fantasy feet, and Houston added former college teammates Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel out of Iowa State to add some juice to their passing game behind Nico Collins. With Tank Dell out of the picture for 2025, they'll need their rookies to contribute early for Stroud to return to fantasy relevance, and the addition of Christian Kirk doesn't hurt either in achieving that end - however, without any real rushing upside, Stroud's role in supporting Nico Collins as a high-end WR1 might be more notable than his value in starting lineups besides in superflex and 2QB formats.
