Faraz's Week 1 Waiver Wire Targets

Updated: Oct 5, 2023

If you're looking for a potential breakout player or a deep-league stash, here's a rundown of my top 20 waiver wire targets to consider for Week 1:

ree

  1. Marvin Mims - With Jerry Jeudy potentially sidelined, Mims is an attractive pickup. Given his high rankings in fantasy analytics, he's an opportunity play. Should Jeudy return, Mims might still have a role. Simply put, Mims has substantial upside, especially given the Tim Patrick injury.

  2. Jaylen Warren (long term) - He's stepping up and could be a game-changer if Najee Harris gets sidelined. With increasing opportunities from the preseason, he's a valuable stash.

  3. De’Von Achane (long term) - Good news: Achane is back in practice. He stands to benefit from Jeff Wilson's injury, and given Raheem Mostert's track record, Achane might have a bigger role soon.

  4. Tank Bigsby - Bigsby is sneaking into Travis Etienne’s workload, showing competence in the preseason. Even with a fumble at the goal line, Bigsby could be part of a valuable committee.

  5. Deon Jackson - With the Colts' RB situation, Jackson stands out as a Week 1 flex option. He’s likely sharing duties with Evan Hull, but Jackson is the one to start with.

  6. Kendre Miller - Injuries aside, Miller could be a complement to Alvin Kamara. More clarity on his injury status will help solidify his role.

  7. Juwan Johnson - Need a TE? Johnson, a former WR, has reportedly formed a solid connection with Derek Carr. His previous season showed potential.

  8. Luke Musgrave - Another TE option. The rookie might be behind Johnson but has seen good route numbers in dropbacks.

  9. DJ Chark - He’s back in practice, optimistic about Week 1, and could be a viable play given his rapport with Bryce Young.

  10. Roschon Johnson - A potential emerging star in Chicago's three-way timeshare, he might need patience but has significant upside.

  11. Romeo Doubs - Despite a hamstring injury, Doubs' preseason rapport and improvements can't be ignored.

  12. Van Jefferson (short term) - He's the WR3 option with potential upside due to Cooper Kupp's absence.

  13. Clyde Edwards-Helaire - He's still in the mix, making him a valid roster choice in most leagues.

  14. D’Onta Foreman - Even with Roschon Johnson in the picture, Foreman has his merits and is still in the competition.

  15. Evan Hull - A promising RB, especially in the passing game. He’s someone to watch in the Colts' RB committee.

  16. Jayden Reed - A rookie with potential, but playing in the shadow of Doubs and Watson. However, his role might expand as the season progresses.

  17. Zack Moss (long term) - Potential backup to the Colts' RB situation if neither Jackson nor Hull stands out.

  18. Brock Purdy - Impressive past performances give him an edge. He's worth the roster spot under Kyle Shanahan.

  19. Sam Howell - An unproven QB with potential upside. His matchup against the Cardinals in Week 1 could be revealing.

  20. Zay Jones - A deep-league option to consider.

The waiver wire is a gold mine, especially at the beginning of the season. Target these players for potential breakout weeks or as valuable bench stashes. Stay ahead of the game and get the upper hand in your fantasy league.
