10 Rules to Live By in Dynasty

  1. Trading is fun, but you don't have to trade just to trade.

  2. Build your team and draft your rookies based on value, and not positional need or the rookie's elevated situation over talent.

  3. Keep the average age of your team relatively young, around 25 or 26 years old. Try not to hold onto players for too long past their peak. It's okay to trade away a player a year too early.

  4. You're only contending if you're a Top-3 or Top-4 team mid-season. If you're not, it's time to start accumulating rookie picks, especially those 1st rounders.

  5. Production over hype. Actual value over potential.

  6. Send fair and enticing trade offers, so you can at least get a counter. Otherwise you will likely get ignored and will be viewed as the person who won't send fair value. Remember, this is a multi-year commitment with the same people.

  7. Buy veterans during your rookie draft while everyone's excited about the new class.

  8. You technically don't have to be in full rebuild mode if you balance your roster correctly. Balance young players with proven veterans.

  9. Embrace the numbers and analytics. The #1 most correlated value to NFL success is draft capital. If you love that 4th round or later WR, there's a good chance he isn't that guy, even if guys like Amon-Ra, Puka, and Tank Dell overcame the odds.

  10. Understand that RBs won't be around forever. Last year's RB1 might be a practice squad RB in a few years. WRs are the staple of our dynasty teams.
