Jaylen Waddle Suffers Knee Injury in Loss vs Texans, Does Not Return

We’d be remiss not to offer our best wishes for Grant DuBose to make a quick recovery from what was a scary scene in the second half of the game. However, Dubose wasn’t the only player to leave the game against the Texans, with Waddle exiting the game after garnering just two targets – neither of which he was able to bring in. He ultimately didn’t re-enter the game, leaving Malik Washington as the next man up to handle the work in his place. Washington earned six targets of his own, but that ranked fourth in the team behind Jonnu Smith, Tyreek Hill, and De’Von Achane. The Dolphins weren’t able to get anything going in the passing game in this one, and after a pristine four-week stretch with 11 touchdowns and no interceptions, Tua Tagovailoa stumbled to a one-touchdown, three-interception performance against Houston. The matchup isn’t any easier next week for Tua against the 49ers in Week 16, and if Waddle would be out, we’d have to downgrade him a bit in that scenario. Without Waddle, the target distribution would more than likely remain relatively unaffected; Smith, Hill, and Achane should be expected to continue their domination at the top, while Malik Washington could sneak in as a flier off of waivers.
